Description Editorial Reviews About the Authors

In high school, Michael Crider was the jokester, the drummer in a band, the Howie Mandel impersonator. Fast-forward ten years and the funny man has married and become the family man. The Guy’s Guide to Surviving Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the First Year of Fatherhood—Crider’s candid, down-to-earth account of his transformation—proves that even without much sleep, he has kept his sense of humor completely intact. From the moment he hears the unexpected news that the pregnancy test is positive to the end of his son’s first year of life, Michael Crider is awed, anxious, and all-too-human. In between these milestones, he endures the aches and pains of his wife’s pregnancy (which had a clear impact on his own bodily comfort), swallows his pride when bunny wallpaper replaces his beloved Budweiser mirror, has a short and only partially-appreciated stint as her labor coach on the Big Day, and experiences every one of his son’s “firsts” as though they were his own. Honest, informative, hilarious, and heartwarming, The Guy’s Guide to Surviving Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the First Year of Fatherhood is a must-read for all new parents.

Hysterical - Dad's and Dad's-to-Be will Love it! February 6, 2007
Reviewer: Brad's Wife from Indiana, USA
My husband received this as a gift and he (and I) loved it! I was so glad to see a book from a guy's point of view and my husband completely identified with the author. We both laughed out loud many, many times while reading it. We highly recommend this book! There are so many books for women during this exciting time - so don't forget the guy! We now give this as a gift for our expecting "guy friends".

I smiled, I laughed and I want more!!! Hey, Michael Crider, thanks for sharing from a fathers perspective the trails and tribulations of the most important job a man can ever have!
Your son, Ryan is one lucky boy! "A Guy's Guide to Surviving Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Frist Year of Fatherhood" is an automatic gift for any baby shower I attend.

Rolling on the floor February 6, 2007
Reviewer: Michael Rustici from Franklin, TN
This book is great! It's a refreshing change from the thousands of other overly serious pregnancy books that have you thinking there's no way you can get that baby out without screwing something up. It is not a serious how-to manual, but rather an honest and entertaining account of what most of us expectant fathers are going through. My apologies to all those sitting next to me on the plane when I read this book, my constant laughter must have been quite disturbing!

Excellent! Funniest parenting book out there!! February 6, 2007
Reviewer: Nikkie Eyes from Brooklyn, NY
This is a wonderfully funny piece. Cerider's book shows the lighter side of pregnancy and fatherhood and these days that is exactly what we all need. The Guy's Guide is filled with humorous insights and personal experiences that a lot of dads go through. VERY well written.

A couple of other reviews denounce the guy's guide as a book that isn't a serious guide for fathers, but that is exactly the point of this book! To talk about a subject so serious as parenting, but to show that even though it can be a trying and gross time, it is also a subject to be laughed at. After all, if we can't laugh, what else do we have?

Terrific book, an easy read and a book that will give some insight into what men are actually thinking!

Very funny and with heart February 6, 2007
Reviewer: K. Morris from Los Angeles, CA
I was looking for a book for my husband who is just getting used to the idea of us getting pregnant. I didn't want a manual with all kinds of overwhelming facts and scary stories....I wanted something lighthearted that he could relate to and see that he isn't the only guy in the world not knowing what to do with the whole situation.
This book was perfect. I read it and was laughing out loud which I never do. It was a fast easy read with a lot of heart.
